WAI Maths

This Thursday I will be going to The Hamilton Gardens to take part in WAI maths which is part of maths week in New Zealand. Holly and Kaitlyn are in the year eight team as well as me and we will be competing against other schools to complete as many problem solving questions as possible in the time frame given and we are allowed three attempts at each question or we can skip it if we get it wrong and we think it will waste time for us. I am looking forward to it and hope we get a good placing in the competition.

Hancock

Yesterday Darcey and I were going to see Batman The Dark Night but my Mum gave us the wrong time so we turned up at the theater at 6:50 and what do you know, Batman started twenty five minutes ago. So we found out what movies were on and there was Mumma Mia or Hancock and I wasn’t going to go to Mumma Mia. We went into the theater and sat down while the man put the rolls of tape on the projector. The movie was about a guy who had “super powers” that let him fly and gave him huge muscles and his skin as hard as diamond. It was a good movie but afterwards since we didn’t go to the right movie we had to wait about fifteen minutes before we got a ride home. But now I’m going to have to go see Batman again another time.

Soccer

Last Saturday my team played St Peters in soccer. My friend played for this team so I wanted to win. It was pouring with rain and it was freezing. I was a sub for most of the first half and when I came on I played left striker and almost scored a goal before the first half ended. At half time the score was 1-0 to us thanks to a two penalties but our left wing missed the second one. At the start of the second half I came on as midfield and then dropped back to my normal position, defence. We scored another 3 goals in the second half which made the score 4-0 but we were lucky to get away with a clean sheet considering they came very close to scoring twice. So in the end the score was 4-0 and I was happy but freezing.

Some Celebration Writing

It was the day… May the 6th my birthday! All my friends had come over to my house for it. We were going to play Xbox and watch movies for the first day then stuff around for the second. It was going to be an awesome two days. One by one my friends arrived but typical, Darcey came five hours late.

First we played halo. It was all action no one really survived more than five minutes on every map. Calum brought me a soccer ball as well as Darcey. Frances brought me Casino Royal the movie. Mum and Dad brought me a mobile phone. It was a motorazer and I was overjoyed that I had one. We had an awesome dinner and all of us stuffed ourselves with the food and pudding. Stealth was a good movie and I think we all enjoyed it. After a couple of hours we got out our sleeping bags and started wrestling in them, Frances dominated so we ganged up on him. We were meant to be going to sleep but we all moved towards the computer. Sitting down on the computer chair all my friends crowded round as we played Runescape. We decided that we’d better go to sleep. Mitchell and I stayed up late and ate some lollies before the next day.

That morning we were all wasted and we had to play a game of soccer. I was beginning to think we should have played it on Saturday before we stayed up late and got no sleep. In the end my team lost and we all went back to my place. Lunch was a sight we all had been waiting for, we were starving. After playing a bit more halo it was time for all my friends to leave. It was a great birthday and I can’t wait till next years.

Almost Time

We’re leaving for Canada in about three and a half weeks and I’m really looking forward to it. We’re going away for almost three weeks and we’re going to see some of Mum and Dads friends and maybe some family. Me and my brother get to miss the last few days and the first two days of term which is sort of a bugger seems we have to do science fair. We’re flying from Auckland to Vancouver and then we will be doing a lot of driving around the country which will be another bugger because it will take forever to get places and I’m not a very patient person. Even so I’m sure it will be a good time away as we haven’t had a family trip overseas since Fiji two years ago.

Saturday Soccer

Last Saturday I played soccer against a Team I cannot remember. We thought it was going to be a hard game but in the end it wasn’t. I played defence for the first half and we played pretty good compared to them. The score at the end of that was 6-2. We were winning. Ben, Justin and Burget scored the goals in the first half. In the second half i played defence for awhile then moved up to midfield. In the end we won the game 10-3. I got player of the day.

Inter Intermediate Soccer

On Tuesday the 13Th of May Te Awamutu Intermediate Soccer teams meet at the ALC to get ready for the Inter Intermediate Soccer tournament. We got our tracksuits from Mrs Shaw and got into the cars to head for Hamilton. There was a boys team and a girls team but the girls were a player down and only had ten people. I was in the boys team and fourteen of us were heading to Galloway park for our first game against Peachgrove Intermediate. We lost, as expected by four or five goals. Our next game was against Mairoa. We started out good and won the game 3-0. The next game was do or die. It was against Fairfield. We started out bad letting in two goals, then our wing, Wiremu handballed it in the penalty area. They got a penalty shot and scored it. The score at half time was still 3-0. In the second half they scored one more and we ended up losing 4-0. We went back to school feeling bad that we hadn’t made the semi’s but we got over it soon enough.

Camp Ohope

On Tuesday the eighth of April Room seven and Room three left for camp at Ohope. We stopped at a Lake just out of Routerua for lunch and it was really windy. When we got to the camp we took our bags up to our cabins and then played some bat down with Josh’s cricket bat and tennis ball. I enjoyed kayaking and high ropes and caught a big fish when I went fishing. It was an ok camp but the Wellington one last year was alot better. I was looking forward to going home on the last day because the beds at the camp weren’t as comfortable as mine and i wanted a room to myself again. But I suppose it was an ok camp that could have been better.
